I'm on here every day, so I know it hasn't been discussed. Stoptech (and Centric and Raybestos) are officially out of business as of this month, with no takers/saviors coming forward to bail them out of bankruptcy. How did this fly under the tt.net radar? Apparently this was due to a multi-billion dollar fraud scheme by senior executives at parent company First Brands Group. In addition to Centric and its brands, including Stoptech, they are also the parent company for several other automotive parts companies, including Anco, Autolite, DrawTite, Fram, Philips, and Michelin. I haven't delved into the details yet, and don't know the scope of the bankruptcy action beyond Centric, but I would guess several of those other brands will also go away. What little I have searched so far says that Michelin Tires is not affected. FBG's ownership is limited to brand licensing for Michelin wiper blades. Was I the only one living under a rock on this? No more rotor blanks or rebuild/hardware kits unless someone knows an alternative source. Pads should be easy enough. I hate corporate thieves. Fucking scum.
